Notes: A classic bit of vinyl here. Released in 1969, Dusty takes a shot at floating her vocals above a handful of Memphis session players and capturing the southern sound. And she hits the bullseye. The choice of material, the production and her ever clear and wonderful vocals combine for a stellar recording. I know that "Son of a Preacher Man" has been flagged as a standout track (and rightly so), but the rest of the record can stand on its own as well. A coy Ms. Springfield on the front cover and some in depth liner notes on the rear and we are all set for a listen.
