Artist: Chet Atkins

Title: A Session With Chet Atkins

Date: 1961

Label: RCA Victor   LPM-1090 RE

Notes: The "girly-shot" cover, Gretsch guitars and a nice smooth selection of material make this a fairly upbeat album. There's a strong version of the classic "Old Man River" and some jazzy drumming to start anyone's toes a tappin'. And and old favorite "Caravan" get's a workout here too. Chet's guitar, as always, moves in and out of the center stage with ease and perfection. No one else sounds quite like that. Nice, "homey" woodblock print feel to the back cover art.

Line Up:

Chet Atkins: guitar, vocals
Bud Isaacs: steel guitar
Dale Potter: fiddle
Ray Eddington: rhythm guitar
John Gordy: piano and celeste
Bob Moore: bass
Buddy Harman: drums
