Notes: I've always had a soft spot for background or incidental music in films and TV shows. It always seems like magic when the music is in perfect sync, physically as well as in a more psychlogical sense, and it just carries the story along. Warren Barker got the gig for the TV show 77 Sunset Strip and he hit the target dead on. A couple of private investigators who work the strip and mingle with the sort of characters you'd expect to find along thoroughfare of such reknown. The show, while tending toward the dramatic, did not take itself too seriously and had a touch of a comic element about it. The character "Kookie" (played by Edward Byrnes) had a hit single with "Kookie, Kookie Lend Me Your Comb" and brought some urban slang and street lingo to the masses. Just ginchy you know? A nice bit of popular culture from years gone by.
