Notes: The
film starring Frank Sinatra as a reformed heroin addict fighting
to stay clean on the outside was backed by some great music played
by Shorty Rogers and Shelly Manne and their band. The orchestral
passages are top notch as well and make for a musical backdrop
to the film. Nominated for an Academy Award (both the film and
the soundtrack), the film originally was not accepted by the industry
due to its explicit treatment of the subject matter. The cover
design by Saul Bass has become an icon over time. Classic.
