Notes: Not
too shabby for a first release from Elvis and his mates. No one
could have guessed what impact Elvis would have on the music scene
of the time or even imagine the longevity of the artist. The production
by Nick Lowe is perfect and keeps everything popping. The acid
tounge, angular melodies and bitter countenance did nothing to
slow down the attraction to this strange little lad and his stories.
There is so much good material here that many artists would wish
to write this many clever songs in a career let alone on their
debut LP. The cover art captures the antagonistic Elvis on the
front and one a bit more introspective on the back cover. Never
move this LP too far from the turntable, youo don't know when you
might need it.
