Notes: A
young Elvis, along with his musical mates, set down some of the
tracks that the rest of his legacy would be built upon. One tune
by Nick Lowe as a closer on side 2, the rest from the pen of the
master of melody. From the start Elvis could grab a hook from out
of the air, build a middle bridge and a with a quick jaunt through
familiar territory and it's on to the next piece. Loath to repeat
himself the short stories he writes are fresh and don't waste time
with finger hero solos and chest thumping. A punk poet with more
fashion sense than anger Elvis could be snotty when the setting
called for it as well as touchingly sensitive in an alternate setting.
The cover art, both front and back is clever, attractive and uncredited.
The album also came with a 3 song demo EP, Live at Hollywood High,
a very nice bonus if you can find it.
