Notes: Comprised
of mostly ballads and the softer side of the saxophone, Desmond
and his arranger (Bob Prince) make this record a memorable experience.
Excellent solos, orchestration and bits of improvisation combine
to make this a reflective and soulful session. Those who are only
familiar with Paul in his Brubeck setting will not be disappointed
with this orchestrated arrangement. Recorded at Webster Hall in
New York City with engineer Ray Hall at the helm the recording
is crisp and well balanced. A quiet moment captured for the cover
photo is well suited for the music within.
