Artist:  Jean De Vres and his Afro Drums

Title:  Exciting Voodoo

Date:  195?

Label:  Palace Records   M-636

Notes:  A presentation of Haitian music that has been played since the dawning of time (according to the liner notes). Utilizing native drums such as the Rada Drums, a trio of drums denoted as "Mama", Second" and Boula", the music is more related to happy occasions than the more widely associated Black Magic uses of the term Voodoo. Either way it's a swinging record for the Tiki set. A little humidity, some food laced with scotch bonnet chili's and a drink built upon rum and any ripe fruit available and you have a fine setting for fun, frolic and some heavy power lounging. A dark, mysterious cover photo calls for us to join the celebration and as noted on the cover it's all presented in "True High Fidelity". Solid Jackson…
