Notes:  I guess that if it was mandatory that each of us owned a Dire Straits record this would be the one. It's got a ton of hits and the rest of the disc ain't bad either. The signature guitar sound is there in all its glory and the strong line-up of material makes for a pleasant experience. Beautiful cover photos and a simple design enhance the package. The is a German import, but I think everything is the same as the stateside version.

Here's some info provided by Steve H:

I don't know if it's of any real interest to you but...........
It's commonly known that Brothers in Arms was the first album to be recorded entirely digitally, and as such was the first CD ever to bear the letters DDD. In the early days of CD's, there was a three letter code on the back cover, either AAD, ADD or DDD. This signified the mixture of analogue and digital recording used in production, and until the release of Brothers in Arms there had always been an element of analogue recording somewhere in the process. Dire Straits broke the mould with this album, which heralded the start of all-digital recording, mixing and
mastering.
