Artist: Donovan
Title: In Concert
Date: 1968
Label: Epic Records BN 26386
Cover Photo: Stephen Goldblatt
Notes: Recorded live at the Anaheim Convention Center this is a fine
collection of the familiar and the obscure. The live recording has a nice feel and Donovan
seems in a very relaxed mood for this one. The version of "Writer in the Sun" is
one of the best I've heard. The cover painting is not credited, nor are the back cover
doodles. The flower children danced the night away to this one, some are dancing still...

And here's some info sent in by Roger Mock:
The cover art on Donovan In Concert is by Fleur Cowles and is called
Desert
Journey. Donovan gives his name in the handwritten notes on the back of the
album and says the painting is from a children's book by Cowles called
"Tiger Flower". I've seen the book though, and it isn't although the book is
illustrated by Cowles with similarly styled paintings. The doodles are by
Donovan. |
