Title: Tarkus

Date:  1971

Label Cotillion Records   SD 9900

Notes:  From the gatefold cover to the inner artwork this release was to be taken as a whole. With the exception of  "Are You Ready Eddy" (an homage to engineer Eddy Offord) The musical pieces begin with the creation of the Tarkus and its subsequent trials and travels. The band is in excellent form and the classical nature of some of the works is a fine fit for the chosen instrumentation. Although considered more commercial than progressive in some circles, this one still gets rotation time on my turntable from time to time.

Line Up

Keith Emerson - Hammond organ, St. Mark's church organ, piano, celeste, Moog synthesizer
Greg Lake - vocals, bass, electric & acoustic guitar
