The Album Cover Art Gallery

Artist:  The Grateful Dead

Title:  From the Mars Hotel

Date:  1974

Label:  Grateful Dead Records   GD-102

Cover Art:  Kelley / Mouse

Notes:  Another swell collection of material from the Dead. Classic tunes like Ship of Fools (which has been covered by Elvis Costello of all people), U.S. Blues and China Doll that we've all heard and swayed to under the stars at one show or another. And the rest of the tunes can hold their own as well. Although the studio doesn't quite capture the whole feeling of the live affair the record is a pretty good effort. And the cover art is fantastic. Our heroes are mutated into a selection of alien species while watching a little TV at the hotel. If you enjoy the Dead you've probably already got this one.
