Notes: With
a history that winds through Woody Herman, Jimmy Dorsey, Benny
Goodman, Stan Kenton and on and on the tenor sax of Stan Getz has
played for us all at one time or another. His grasp of the Bossa
Nova beat launched it into the mainstream for a time. This is true
for his jazz samba compositions as well. While he may not be as
experimental as some of the other noted sax players out there he
has a distinctive sound and tone. I'm not familiar with the label "Royal
Roost", but the cover art brings to mind early "pop" art
or the minimalist canvases of Rothko or other abstract impressionists.
