Notes: Playing
since he was eight years old, Al Hirt has become a piece of the
American experience. It's hard to think of Dixieland music without
thinking of New Orleans and the people who play the music there.
Included in the dozen tunes presented here is one of my all time
favorites, the Ellington standard "Caravan". I
never tire of hearing this tune in all its iterations. This is
a nice find for the N'Orleans jazz fans among us. I'm not certain
who "Dan" is, but if that's him on the cover then he
looks like a mighty happy feller, and who can blame him?
