Notes: Before Sugar there
was Husker Du. An incredible double album by the northern
power trio and the most amazing thing is that with the exception
of a few tunes everything was "first take". The band
made its mark on the punk landscape in the eighties along with
the Minutemen and Black Flag. All were intelligent,
aggressive bands with talent to spare. One of my favorites, "I'll
Never Forget You" is here in all its gut-wrenching emotional
glory. Although some may find this album abrasive on first listen,
repeated sessions reveal the inner workings and interplay of the
music and the players. Nice cover photos in a "hand colored" style.
