Notes: Here
we’ve got a double album comprised of both live and studio
recordings. Ray spends a lot of time lamenting the life on the
road and the day to day challenges of living in rock star isolation.
But along with this we get such diverse themes as rocket ships,
banana boats and psychological analysis. I picked this up while
in junior high school and it still remains a favorite to this
day. The band is in great form on both records and Ray’s
storytelling abilities are strong. I guess the only downside
is that “Lola” consists of an audience sing-a-long
of the chorus. Hand tinted cover photos and the general flavor
of the artwork takes us back to the film days of yore. Ray, ever
the dandy, fits right in. This has been released on CD and is
well worth seeking out.
