Notes: Not
so much a tribute as an exploration of Monk's music. The quartet
is aided by Ron Carter on bass to fill the bottom end and provide
a base from which to build. The quartet has an obvious respect
for Monk and brings just enough of their own sound to make the
outing thoroughly enjoyable for all. I think fans of either Monk
or the Quartet will find this a worthwhile endevour. A instantly
recognizable Monk silhouette on the front cover and a group shot
on the back along with liner notes by Orrin Keepnews complete the
package.
