| Artist: King Uszniewicz and his Uszniewicztones Title: Direct from the Orbit Room Date: 1989 Label: Norton Records NORTON 208 Cover By: Pete Ciccone
Notes: This amazing collection of stray notes and strained vocals is fronted by by tenor saxophonist/bandleader Ernie 'King' Uszniewicz. My God people, you'd think a band with this many players would be able to carry a tune for a short stretch, but no. With the exception of "Little Dead Surfer Girl" this is in contention for the worst record ever made. According to Cub Koda (Brownsville Station, etc...) the band was found playing in a bowling alley in a nasty section of Detroit. Maybe they should have stayed there, but Norton though it would bring the King's talent to the listening public at large. And this is not his only release! The cover chronicles the release of the U-Tones early singles, band history and a letter from the proprietors of the bowling alley assessing a $133.00 bill against the band (to be paid in $15 increments weekly) for damage to a cigarette machine. If you ever pass the Orbit Room, stop for a moment of silence... Line Up: King U: vocals, tenor sax
