Notes: Recorded
as their collective nod to the musical style of the Weavers, The
Knitters, an acoustic reworking of X with a few friends along for
the ride, reach down through the musical soil and feel their roots
firmly planted. It surprised me at the time to see how easily some
of the LA punk scene could turn down and become storytellers and
still retain their identity. Now it doesn't seem such a far stretch,
what with the wealth of talent in the "alt-country" pool,
but at the time it was an epiphany. And the cover art has that
handmade, folk art look that is present in the music. A fine set
for fans of the genre.
