Notes: Stunning,
that's all I can think of to describe k.d.'s voice in any setting.
She is able to draw feeling beyond her years from a simple set
of words and music. She also seems to be enjoying herself instead
of trying to impress anybody. The choice of an aging and ailing
Owen Bradley to produce this record was a perfect fit for both
the art and the artist. I'm not one for heavy string backgrounds,
but the use of strings here seem just right. To be k.d. and to
be able to do a number with the likes of the Honky Tonk Angels
must be close to heaven. A very nice black & white portrait
on the front cover, sporting a Robert Gordon-like hair style and
some intimate shots on both the back cover and inner sleeve are
choice touches for a class project.
