| Artist: The Exotic Sounds of Arthur Lyman Title: Taboo Date: 1958 Label: Hifi Records R806
Notes: Having left the Martin Denny combo Arthur formed his own group to play exotic music that would contrast the modern and the primitive. The album was recorded in the Henry J. Kaiser Aluminum Dome in Honolulu, a 1500 seat half sphere which due to its' shape possess natural room acoustical reverberation. With the exotic percussion and the bird calls and conch shells and the like, the listeners at the Tiara Room of the Hawaiian Village Hotel (appearing nightly) are in for a real treat. The flowing lava on the cover can't compare to the hot music inside. A pleasant addition to any collection for the exotica fan. There's also a nice cover of "Caravan" for your listening pleasure.
