Notes: Some
very early Charley and his Southside Band. Moving from folk to
blues seemed natural for some of the record label execs and Charley
had Vanguard at his back helping him to make the public declaration
of his splendid understanding of the blues feel and sound. After
spending time as a sideman for such greats as Big Walter Horton
Charley pulled together this group and hit the studio. And a fine
effort it is. The front cover has a look of youthful defiance and
focus. No one would accuse these guys of just jumping on a passing
train, Charley and friends are more than willing to drive the train
themselves.
