The Album Cover Art Gallery

Artist:  Henry Mancini

Title:  Peter Gunn

Date:  1958

Art By:  Jason Kirby

Notes:  I think that it's a safe bet to say everyone recognizes that opening riff from "Peter Gunn".  This album is made up of music written for the TV series of the same name. Mancini get jazzy for this one. The front cover has that "fifties" hip feel and the reverse looks like the cover from a cheap detective novel.  Good after work, martini music. Olive or onion, it's your choice.

Line Up:

Henry Mancini: composer, conductor

Jack Sperling: drums

Rolly Bundock: bass

Pete Candoli: trumpet

(also includes various members of Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and Les Brown bands)

If you have additional information pertaining to the album or players you can send an E-mail to Tralfaz.  Thanks.

The  cover to the right and following comments came from Kerry Canfield: "...for some reason unknown to me, the "Peter Gunn" cover you show isn't the same front cover to the LP I've got, although the back cover is basically the same (having, however, in addition to the drawing and text a photo of Mancini in the upper left corner)...the catalog number (LPM-1956) matches".
