Notes: Guitar,
bass and drums. That's all it takes sometimes to produce timeless
music. This album, according to the liner notes, is meant to be
listened to in one sitting, "...as though it were a book or
a movie". And right they are. The album is full of classic
Reed and the songs move from one to another in what feels to be
a logical sonic sequence. The guitar work is strong and the vocals
bring an emotional reading of some of the best work here (Busload
of Faith and Romeo Had Juliette spring to mind).
I've always associated Rob Wasserman with the Grateful
Dead or Bob Weir, but he fits in well
in this urban setting. Multiple copies of Lou on the front cover
and the same space vacated on the back.
