Notes: A very
odd affair here folks. A later recording by the heart and soul
of Spirit involves our heroes flying about in their Kopter-Mobile
near Idaho. So of course they see an exit for Potato Land and just
have to investigate if only to relieve their boredom. The deeper
into Potato Land they progress the stranger it gets. To help out
the confused listener the LP comes with a
16 page comic that not only presents you with a graphic representation
of the story, but includes lyrics and a few photos as well. Alas,
the boys become disillusioned and head back home, but the last
page teases us with these words, "Stay tuned for the next
album & be part of the Revenge of the French Fries. I don't
know if another chapter of this story was ever recorded, but this
is the only copy of this one that I've ever come across. The cover
art and comic have an R. Crumb or Reid Fleming (World's Toughest
Milkman) feel to them. The music touches on some Spirit echoes
here and there, but doesn't rely on them. This one definitely stands
alone.
