| Artist: Jimmy Silva Title: Remnants of the Empty Set Date: 1986 Label: Popllama Records PL 5252 Photography By: Donald Wonderley, Eric Scott Cover Concept By: Jimmy Silva
Notes: Jimmy Silva wrote songs. They are tales of common men and women, songs of strong people, songs full of real feeling and emotion. His short life yielded a wealth of musical storytelling and collaboration. Jimmy was friends with people from all over the country who made music a major part of their lives and all were happy to take the time to make music with Dr. Jimmy. From the Smithereens to the Young Fresh Fellows to the Squirrels to the Beau Brummels and on and on. The variety of guitar texture and sounds reveals a player with as much talent in his ears as his hands. His is sorely missed. This is a great place to start your musical association with Jimmy.
Line Up: Jimmy Silva: guitar, keyboard, harmonica,
vocal

Here are a few words added by Kim Wonderly: I wrote a tune ("Everytime a Gift") and sang on this record and was a
life long friend of Jimmy's. My Dad, Don Wonderley contributed some of the back cover photos that were taken
during World War II, in China and India. This was Jimmy's first record, there would be
3 more, Fly Like a Dog, Heidi and Til the End of the
Harvest (released posthumously). |
