Notes: With
a title reference to the "Land of the Lost" and a penchant
for Beatles covers this record should be a lot more fun than it
is. And to top it off Danny Bonaduce, he of Partridge fame or infamy
depending on personal proclivity, makes an appearance. The melding
of Lennon and Queen works fairly well and the version of "Tomorrow
Never Knows" is interesting at the very least, but it's their
fascination with Yoko Ono that taints most of what they touch.
While a gag is funny for a short time, overuse of the rubber chicken
fails to have legs upon repeated flailings. The entire second side
of this record consists of five takes of the Ono tune, well I guess
it would really be stretching it to call it a tune, let's settle
on the term "piece" and go with that. The five takes
of the "piece" range from 2:12 to 2:51 and all become
overly annoying after the first :10 or so. But one must remember
that this was purchased for the novelty value and not the music
per se. I do have another of their records which it quite listenable
overall, but this…..well…. The cover art looks to
the Yellow Submarine era and has the Ono figure front and center.
The producer credit goes to well known science fiction figure Phillip
K. Dick, interesting if true…
