Artist:  Trace

Title:  Birds

Date:  1975

Label:  Sire/Phonogram Records   SASD-7514

Sleeve Design:  Rens Benerink

Notes:  A progressive contribution from Holland. Trace are a trio producing very keyboard rich music with embellishments of a classical nature splashed about here and there. This theme piece is made up of mostly short bits of music and is fleshed out with the covering of two J.S. Bach tunes. A very "other-worldly" feeling to the cover illustration. Raptors poised above an alien landscape with the smoldering sun in the background. This is another band that had slipped by me when this album was current, but I'm pleased to have found them now.

Line Up:

Rick van der Linden: keyboards (grand piano, clavinet, pianet, Hammond B-3 Organ, harpsichord, A.R.P. 2600 synthesizer, Solina string ensamble, mellotron, steeldrums, Riha classica

Ian Mosley: drums, timpani, Chinese gong, duckcall, tamborine

Jaap van Elk: vocals, guitars (Fender Precision bass, stratocaster, Fender fuzz, phased guitar)

Guests:

Darryl Way: acoustic/electric violins
Coen Hoedeman: assorted monkeys
