Artist:  The Union Gap (featuring Gary Puckett)

Title:  Woman, Woman

Date:  1968

Label:  Columbia Records   CS 9612

Cover Photo:  Don Hustein

Notes:  On what appears to be their first album, Gary is just "featured" and not yet the lone star. Containing some of their hits as well as some interesting choices of cover material, Sonny Bono's "You'd Better Sit Down Kids" springs to mind, the Gap run through a range of moods here. Named after the historic town of Union Gap, Washington these  boys formed the group in San Diego in 1967. Hailing from as far as Canada and Minnesota they used this record to take their first steps toward the top of the pops. A period piece cover photo is made into the silhouettes on the back with the names handily inserted. A nice piece of sixties pop on the rise.

Line Up:

General Gary Puckett: lead singer and guitarist
Sergeant Dwight Bement: tenor sax man
Corporal Kerry Chater: bass guitar detail
Private Gary "Mutha" Withem: woodwinds and piano
Private Paul Wheatbread: drums
