Notes: I
had only heard of one band included here prior to finding this
record (It's
a Beautiful Day), but the rest of the
bands follow that lead admirably. This is the very archetype
of the San Francisco sixties rock ethos. A few lesser known bands
get together and put out a record. Wonderful cover graphics and
the inside spread date this in a very nice way. The listener
is encouraged to write to the record company if more of the same
would be readily accepted. If anyone has any knowledge of any
of the other bands I'd like to hear about them. Just another
great flea market find.
Here's a bit of info submitted by a happy traveler: The band (Indian Puddin and Pipe) was a Seattle band named West Coast Natural Gas, renamed by Matthew Cates after he signed them and moved them to San Francisco. The Drummer was Jeff LaBrache. Jeff is still alive and living in Seattle. There are some great old posters from the Avalon Ballroom advertising the band. |
