Artist:  Jack Webb

Title:  Pete Kelly's Blues

Date:  1955

Label:  RCA Victor Records   LPM-1126

Notes:  Jack Webb plays Pete Kelly, a coronet player in this Dixieland style jazz outfit. A little organized crime and a woman with a predilection for a nip now and then (played by Peggy Lee) and we have our story. The album has the original soundtrack music and is narrated by Jack. His voice and that patented deadpan delivery are just perfect for this LP. Guitar work is by George Van Eps who would record music for many performers. Later in his career he would step out front and center to play some fine music. The interest here was primarily the cover art. It caught my eye amidst the endless stream of used dreck at the flea market. This one stood out and said "buy me". A wise choice.

Eddie Miller - tenor
