| Artist: Paul Weston Title: The Sweet and the Swingin' Date: 195? Label: Capitol Records ST 1361
Notes: As foretold by the front cover this record is, "A fresh contrast of melodic strings and swinging vocal patterns by…". And that sums it up pretty well. You get those strings, you know the ones. So sweet and clear that the treacle forms spontaneously in the air about you. But to try to balance out the equation the vocals in a male chorus configuration fight to bring a touch of swingin' melody to the party. But the real reason I picked this one up is the incredible cover art. The blissful angel resting upon the back of the conniving Satan with his horns and crimson robes. I'm sure this is patterned after some "old master's" work that I can't quite recall at the moment, but the most remarkable coincidence is that The Supersuckers, which I owned first, have copied this cover for their The Sacrilicious Sounds of… record. Small friggin' world it is, I'll tell you what. This one's is going up on the wall of the Tiki bar for all to enjoy.
