Artist:  Jesse Winchester

Title:  Jesse Winchester

Date:  1970

Label:  Ampex / Bearsville Records   A-10104

Engineered / Produced By:  Todd Rundgren and Robbie Robertson

Notes:  With a feel similar to the Band's acoustic music Jesse writes some oft-covered tunes that have an old time sound. It's almost a sense of place while listening to this record. It doesn't hurt when you've got input from Levon and Robbie and Todd Rundgren is there twiddling the knobs. Black Dog  alone was worth the price of the record. The cover photo (same picture on front, back and both sides of the gatefold inner sleeve) looks like it could be from a hundred years ago. A nice side street for aficionados of the Band and their work.
