for the playful sixties cover photo this record opened my ears
to Kai and his trombone. Smooth, jazzy and fun he can carry a tune
with the best of them. I'm not sure if the musicians are part of
his working band or belong to the studio, but they work here as
a cohesive force to back Kai throughout his musical travels. And
as mentioned before, the cover photo looks like it was a fun session
for one and all.
Here's a bit of information provided by Doug: The
Great Kai Winding Sound is a compilation of Kai Winding's Columbia
recordings, made between 1956 and 1959 (I agree, great swinging
60s cover!):
