Artist: Neil Young Title: Neil Young Date: 1968 Label: Reprise Records RS 6317 Art Direction: Ed Thrasher Portrait: Roland Diehl Apple Girl: Lance Sterling Liner Photo: Danny Kelly
Notes: Assisted by Ry Cooder this early Young album lacks the hits, but has the heart. You can hear Neil finding his voice and style here. Always a storyteller he takes us along for the journey. Feel the dust on the wind, the bite of cheap whiskey, the twinge from a moments eye contact with the same woman that every other man in the room is looking at. But the look you got was special. That's what Neil makes us feel, that he's talking to us personally, with his voice, his story and his music. A very sixties portrait with a flowing sky and reflected city on the front, a folk-art apple girl on the back. Those that like him love him, those that don't have their reasons. I've been told that this is a reissue. The original had no name at the top of the cover.
