Notes: The
right guys in the right place at the right time. Tuna was able
to put together old time religion with the hippie ethos of the
day and lace it with a bit of fire to produce their unique version
of rock and blues. The Rev. Gary Davis as a large inspiration
and the experience of the Airplane to hone their chops the guys
tell their stories, sometimes without words, and let us into
the world in which they live. Jorma's voice, full of character
and sawdust, has a the mellow feel of a back porch jam on a rainy
afternoon. Papa John's fiddle soars over the melodies and swoops
low to hit all proper points. The covers show us a classic band
riding in a classic car along what must be the California coast
near San Francisco. The record, and the band for that matter,
are still fresh as a new day.
