Long recogonized as a master of time, tone and texture Dave Brubeck has covered a lot of ground over the course of his storied career. Innovative, but still approachable the music of his quartets could hold the college cognoscenti in thrall and still see some of their music become quite popular allowing for some commercial success. Dave along with titleoist Paul Desmond found just the right blend of sounds working within the quartet format. And we ever thankful that they did.
