Formed out of the San Francisco music scene of the early sixties the disparate personalities managed to gel and bring us some of the most recorgnizable, as well as commercially successful, music of the era. Eventually the Airplane grew short of fuel and splintered in different directions. Jorma and Jack going of to form Hot Tuna (which continues to this day in various forms both acoustic and electric) while the remainnig members coalesced into various configurations of the Jefferson Starship. And let us not forget the myriad of solo projects to appear over the years. Here are just a few of my favorties.
