| Artist: The Small Faces Title: Ogden's Nut Gone Flake Date: 1973 Label: Immediate/Abkco Records AB 4225 Design: The Small Faces Illustration: P. Brown
Notes: Released in 1968 this was a fabulous record from start to finish. Four cockney lads who could play along with the best of Britain's mods and rockers. Screamin' Stevie Marriott could bring working class tales to the table and keep you hooked right up to the end. All four musicians went on to make their mark in rock 'n' roll history. Steve went on to Humble Pie while the remaining fellows dropped the "Small" and became the Faces behind a young Rod Stewart. Maling this record even more special is side two where, utilizing comedian Stanley Unwin as narrator, a rock opera unfolds and brings us the tale of Happiness Stan and his search for the missing half of the moon. Told in a deep, deep cockney accent it's a rollicking ride and one everyone should take at least once, although it may take repeated listenings to figure it all out. And just to make it a complete package the record comes in a round cover simulating an actual tobacco tin. Click here to see the inner sleeve. Dealers had problems wiht the original round cover so the Lp was re-released in a square cover with a round insert. Just a fabulous addition to any collection.
Line Up: Steve Marriott
